Update: ASIRT has updated a previous release and have stated that both officers were part of the K Division Traffic Services with only one actively working. ASIRT corrected a release saying Sgt. Daniel Mayowski is a former police officer
Alberta’s police watchdog has recommended two RCMP officers be charged after an incident on Feb. 16 2024.
On that day, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was called to investigate two RCMP officers from the Morinville and Westlock detachments.
ASIRT said the evidence gathered provided “reasonable grounds to believe that an offence had been committed.”
On Aug. 27, Sgt. Daniel Mayowski of Westlock RCMP and Sgt. Sheldon Robb of Morinville RCMP were each charged with breach of trust under section 122 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
They were both released on appearance notices and are scheduled for first appearances on Oct. 1 and 2 in their respective county courts, the release said.
