It is rare these days to be able to experience a first of it kind event, but that’s exactly what is coming up at NAIT on August 26.
This year, NAIT is hosting its first-ever Indigenous Student Orientation, which is open to all First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students who are beginning their journey at NAIT.
Students will be introduced to the Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre and meet the staff and be able to ask any questions they might have about starting their post-secondary learning.
The goal of this orientation is to ensure Indigenous students feel supported and that they have a strong sense of community and belonging from the moment they arrive on campus.
The orientation will help students transition to post-secondary life by connecting them with a cultural advisor, peers, staff, and other resources.
Darrell spoke with Heather Lamb, Indigenous Liaison Specialist at the Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre about the orientation and why now is the right time to host an event like this.
