RCMP are looking for a woman after a dog bite incident in the Alderwood neighbourhood in St. Albert.
Mounties responded to the neighbourhood around 7:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a dog bite. Reports indicate that a 61 year old woman was walking her dog, when she and her dog were bitten by a large black dog.
Due to the incident, the woman was taken to hospital by paramedics, where she underwent surgery. The dog was taken to a veterinarian for injuries it suffered on its hind legs.
Police have since canvassed the neighbourhood in an attempt to identify the black dog and its owner. It is believed that a young woman was walking with the dog around the time of the incident. She has been described as around 18 to 20 years old with brown hair. The large black dog has been described like a Boxer, but larger than the 61-year-old woman’s Golden Retriever.
Anyone who may have any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8377.
