
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, at approximately 3:15 p.m., police were called to the area of 102 Avenue and 121 Street for reports of a domestic disturbance.
It was reported to police that a male with multiple edged weapons was in an apartment building and was threatening others inside of a suite EPS said in a press release.
Police and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) responded to the area and located a suspect matching the description.
EPS said a confrontation occurred between the suspect male with edged weapons and another resident before one officer discharged a firearm hitting the suspect.
EMS treated and transported the 42-year-old male to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No EPS officers or apartment residents were injured during this event.
The EPS submitted a 46.1 notification to the Director of Law Enforcement, who has since directed the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) to conduct an investigation into the incident.
