Strides of Hope
Albertans across six cities are stepping out today for the 2025 Strides of Hope Walk, a province-wide initiative organized by the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) to mark World Schizophrenia Day. The event, taking place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and show solidarity with the nearly 50,000 Albertans living with schizophrenia and psychosis.
Walks are being held simultaneously in Calgary, Camrose, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Red Deer—communities where SSA provides in-person support programs. Participants are encouraged to wear purple or white to symbolize hope and unity.
For those unable to attend in person, SSA invites supporters to wear purple, take a photo, and share it on social media using the hashtags #WorldSchizophreniaDay and #SSAStridesofHope. Donations and online fundraising efforts are also welcome to support SSA’s programs and services.
