The last time three Canadian teams made it this far was during the 2004 playoffs, when Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal all advanced past the opening round. That year, the Flames went on to reach the Stanley Cup Final, ultimately falling in seven games to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Winnipeg Jets secured a dramatic 4–3 double-overtime victory over the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of their first-round NHL playoff series on Sunday Late in the third period, the Jets mounted a remarkable comeback. Vladislav Namestnikov scored with 1:56 remaining in regulation, and Cole Perfetti netted the tying goal with just 2.2 seconds left, marking the latest game-tying goal in a Game 7 in NHL history.
No Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since the Montreal Canadiens lifted the trophy in 1993.
The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, will take on the Florida Panthers as they look to break a decades-long championship drought of their own.
