Grand opening for new Zebra Centre facility

The Zebra Child and Youth Advocacy Centre is celebrating the grand opening of their new 30,000-square-foot building in Edmonton.

The Centre supports child victims of abuse and their families, offering a space where children can be comfortable during traumatic times and supports clients through the investigative, judicial and healing processes.

The Zebra Centre’s former location for 22 years was on Jasper Ave and 109 Street.

In 2024, Zebra provided support to 4,387 children and youth, an increase of 87 per cent since 2019, according to the organization.

Of the children referred to the Zebra Centre, 51.1 per cent were victims of sexual abuse and 41.2 per cent were victims of other physical abuse.

The new facility has 15 kid-friendly rooms where families can feel comfortable upon arrival while staff members provide answers and support.

There are six child forensic interview rooms with a monitoring room connected on the other side of the wall. There are also 50 office spaces and an additional work station for volunteers and staff, allowing the organization’s partners to be on site.
