A nine-year-old girl has died in a crash at an Alberta highway intersection and police say four other people, including three children, were seriously injured.
RCMP say the two-vehicle collision happened Friday at the intersection of Highways 36 and 13, just east of Killam.
Mounties say the nine-year-old girl died at the scene, while another nine-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and a 43-year-old man who were all in the same vehicle remained in critical condition on Saturday.
An 11-year-old boy is in stable condition.
Earlier on Friday, at approximately 9:06am, Parkland RCMP began receiving reports of multiple collisions on Highway 16 in the area of Highway 60.
RCMP attended and observed multiple collisions, including semi tractor trailers in the ditch. In total emergency workers tended to 6 individuals. One 61-year-old female Seba Beach resident died as a result of her injuries. 5 other individuals we taken to hospital with various injuries one critical.
Police had reported poor driving conditions throughout central Alberta as a spring storm brought 29.5 cm of snow to Edmonton on Thursday and Friday.
