The Oilers may be on a break but that doesn’t mean professional hockey isn’t still happening at Rogers Place.
Sunday afternoon will see the Ottawa Charge facing off against the Toronto Sceptres as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour.
This marks the fifth of nine Takeover Tour games, which has teams playing at predominantly NHL arenas in cities that do not currently have a PWHL team.
The Ottawa Charge feature two Indigenous players in Jocelyn Larocque and Victoria Bach.
The game is also a homecoming for a couple of players for the Charge, Danielle Serdachny and Stephanie Markowski, both currently in their rookie seasons.
Charge goaltender Emerance Maschmayer is also from nearby Bruderheim.
Serdachny spoke on exposing the professional women’s game beyond their current six teams, and the impact that could have on future generations.
Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. Sunday from Rogers Place.
