Edmonton Oilers Captain Connor McDavid has been suspended for three games, without pay, for cross-checking Conor Garland in Vancouver on January 18.
McDavid was handed a match penalty after he cross-checked the Canucks winger in Edmonton’s 3-2 loss.
The penalty came after McDavid and Garland got tangled up and fell to the ice, with the Vancouver winger grabbing McDavid to prevent Edmonton’s captain from getting back into the play.
With the suspension, McDavid will forfeit $195,312.51 with the money going to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
