“Play some Free bird!” The iconic sentiment from Classic Rock lovers can once again be said in Edmonton.
Announced today, the legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd will mark their 50th anniversary with a 10-date tour across Canada.
Starting September 10 in Calgary, the tour includes stops in major cities such as Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg before heading east to Oshawa, Niagara Falls, Laval, and three Atlantic Canadian cities: Moncton (September 22), Halifax (September 23), and St. John’s (September 25). Performances will feature special guests Outlaws.
The band has been deemed one of the most influential bands in Roll history and last played in Edmonton in March of 2019.
Although there are no original living members in the line-up, the iconic group currently includes Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Damon Johnson, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Keith Christopher, Peter Keys, Carol Chase, and Stacy Michelle. They continue to honor former members, including Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, and others, who contributed to the band’s enduring legacy.
Known for their debut album Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd released in 1973, Lynyrd Skynyrd has sold tens of millions of records and boasts a catalog exceeding 60 albums. The band remains a cultural icon, with billions of streams worldwide and a multigenerational fan base.
