Ontario’s Death From Above 1979 features Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Grainger. Formed in 2001, the duo’s take on punk rock and noise created a sound unlike any other at the time. Following their EP release “Heads Up” in 2002. The duo released their first full length album “You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine in 2004” in turn creating one of the most influential cult classics for the punk scene in the 2000’s.
Following a hiatus, the group came back in 2014 with “The Physical World”, “Outrage is Now” in 2017 and most recently “Is 4 Lovers” in 2020. Since their releases the group has been active in touring, however this year has marked a very special milestone for the band, celebrating 20 years of their first record You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine.
Sebastien took some time to talk about DFA’s origins, appreciating their first record 20 years later and some of their most iconic moments as a group.
