A local show in downtown Edmonton will be raising money for a great cause ahead of the winter months. As the colder temperatures creep closer, so will the demand of items to help keep the un-housed members of the community warm.
On November 15th, the Dive Bar on Jasper Avenue will host ‘Punk Rock ‘n Raise’, an opportunity for people to gather, listen to great music and provide donations to the Bissell Centre. All proceeds going to the Bissell Community Space.
The Punk Rock ‘n Raise will feature,
- Half Dead
- Livin’ Filth
- Tommy Jarvis
- The Andrechts
Kendel Smith is a project support worker with the Bissell Centre spoke to the Raven about the upcoming concert, mentioning how members in the “Alternative” or “Punk” community tend to help the most in these trying times.
Seeing first hand the lack of funding towards the homeless community, Smith took it upon herself to organize the concert in hopes of showing other members of the community that they can take initiative as well.
