The Maskwacîs Education Schools Commission (MESC) is proud to announce the publication of five new books in August 2024. Designed to foster language development in Nehiyawewin and prepare students for the routines of school life, these books are a significant step in ensuring that Maskwacîs students see themselves reflected in literature created specifically for them.
The MESC Curriculum Department, alongside talented community members, collaborated to bring these stories to life. The books feature families from Maskwacîs, who are pictured throughout the stories, making the books a true reflection of the community. Carla Badger, Rose Makinaw, Jolene Rain visited 89.3 The Raven to speak on the books titled:
