The Terwillegar Community Rec Centre is now officially known as The Booster Juice Community Rec Centre in Terwilleger.
In August, 2024 the City of Edmonton revealed that a 10-year sponsorship deal would be made with the company for an undisclosed amount.
Some Edmontonians have been vocal an opposed to the deal that makes the city’s rec centre in south Edmonton sound “corporate.”
Tax Payers will have to wait for the details on the dollar amount attached to the deal.
Kim Brockhoff with the City of Edmonton said that this is due to the possible comprising of future deals with the other facilities.
Terwilliger is the first tax-payer funded facility to have it’s name sold. Deals with Meadows, Clareview and the under-construction Lewis Farm Estate Rec Centre are also said to be in the works.
The president of Booster Juice says the deal was three years in the making.
“Because it was the first of its kind for them, had to go quite a few different stages and focus groups to make sure, the right partner is gonna be chosen,” explained Dale Wishewan, the founder and president of Booster Juice.
Day to day operations will still be run by the City of Edmonton.
