Hard rock band Metallica, who rocked sold-out crowds in Edmonton during two shows over the weekend has paid a tribute to a fallen fan.
In a heartfelt social media post on the Facebook platform, the man, Lorne, who goes by the alias ” Viking” died during Fridays concert as a result of health conditions, according to the band.
“Very sad when death happens, but we’re touched that he spent some of his final, hopefully joyful, time with us,” the band post read on Facebook.
The band added that Lorne is considered a Metallica “family member” as per the tribute.

The man was taken from the “Snake Pit” on a stretcher by EMS at Commonwealth Stadium, who administered urgent care to the man according to a friend of Lorne’s.
His comrade Erika Oldale honoured Lorne as “the kindest soul” and added, “We all called him Viking. He will be missed terribly! Please crank up a Metallica song, and raise a glass for the Viking.”
Erika added that “the outpouring of concern and well wishes makes us (feel) that were blessed to call him friend feel a little less lost and alone.”
Approximately 120,000 people were in attendance during both Friday and Sunday’s concerts.
