The Indigenous Experience inside the Edmonton Expo Centre in Hall E hosted various booths throughout K-Days, with one of the tables featuring the Aboriginal Alert.
Dan Martel, founder of the Aboriginal Alert says it’s been amazing to see many people signing up for the Alert, and adds that people will make the alarm work by bringing awareness to missing Aboriginal people.
Martel speaks on the origins of how the Aboriginal Alert system started, with the website that shows over 300 Aboriginal people across Canada that are missing, with the number continuing to grow.
Martel speaks on another project he created called ‘Into the Storm’, which is an initiative to support and raise awareness for community compassion and connection. The proceeds go towards supporting grassroots initiatives like CC Walk and Aboriginal Alert that help to raise awareness, provide support and create connections to make lives better in our communities.
Martel hopes that people recognize that there is national issue that can be turned into action with the help of the Aboriginal Alert and Into the Storm as a way of gathering much needed information to make a difference and tackling on human trafficking’s that are happening with age groups between the ages of 12 – 17.
