Billows of smoke could be seen emerging from a demolition yard in South Edmonton Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze was first reported at approximately 4:15 p.m. yesterday afternoon according to an Edmonton Fire Services email.
The fire occurred in the area of 68 Avenue and 75 Street at a demolition yard. Because of the materials that were burning the provincial environment department was notified.
The blaze affected rush hour traffic as 75 Street Northbound traffic slowed due to heavy smoke and emergency crews setting up.
The fire was extinguished around 10:30 p.m. according to Edmonton Fire Rescue Services.
