From Traditional Hand Games, Jigging contests and food and activities for Children and Elders, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation is gearing up to celebrate it’s 125th anniversary of Treaty Days.
Elaine Vandall, administrative director from Chipewyan Prairie First Nation says she is excited for this years Treaty Days, with celebrating 125 years and showcasing the Dene Culture within the community.
Within the Treaty Days event, Vandall says that the children from the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation can get involved with sharing the different aspects of the culture and the language, learning to live off the land, learning how to communicate with the Elders and a group of boys from the community learning to use the Dene drum.
Vandall shares what attendees can expect at this years Treaty Days event, with entertainment from the Black Eyed Creez and Desjarlais Company.
When asked what Elaine Vandall hopes that community members will take away, she hopes that they can be proud of where they come from.
