Multiple businesses and retail outlets within Westmount may soon need to find a new home.
Currently, throughout the mall approximately half a dozen outlets are adorning signs indicating that they are either closing or moving.
An apparent water leak from the buildings roof in several locations is believed to be at the root of the issues.
Many business owners are now scrambling, given just 30 days notice to close up shop within the shopping complex.
The Westmount Community League says the mall initially opened in 1955 under the name Westmount Shoppers Park according to Westmount Community League and at the time was considered a new concept in retail.
Throughout the decades , it housed a skating rink along with two movie theatres.
Six major malls were soon to follow the concept over the years, including West Edmonton Mall.
