For nearly half a century, Edmonton has been hosting the Ben Calf Robe Traditional Pow-Wow, utilizing different locations over the years but have settled into Clarke Stadium for the last few years.
The Pow Wow is an exciting, family-friendly, free gathering to celebrate Indigenous people’s rich traditions, history, and culture. Watch traditional dancers, drummers, and singers of all ages, shop at artisans’ booths or try delicious food
Elder Elizabeth Letendre, Indigenous knowledge and language keeper, educator, and community builder in Edmonton joined CFWE to discuss the long history of the event.
When asked what people should take away from the Pow-Wow, especially our non-Indigenous friends, Letendre said it’s continuing to mend the gap and hopes everyone shows up to watch.
