Face the Earth has been making waves as an independent group in the rock music scene with their explosive energetic and memorable performances, captivating music videos, and loyal fan base. Since their formation back in late 2019, they have shared the stage with some well known names in Canadian rock music, and have gained critical acclaim for their unique sound and style.
In 2023, where Y2K culture is making a significant comeback with staples such as Blink-182 announcing a reunion tour, and Sum 41’s final album being set to release with a farewell tour, Face the Earth wanted to pay homage to that point of time in music by delivering alternative/indie sound with their own modern take to give listeners that throwback feeling.
“This EP is a great reflection on our growth as an alternative rock band in 2023. We really pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone by ensuring that each song felt completely different from the last, and nothing like what we have ever written before.” – Jeff Gauthier (lead guitarist)
The EP’s title track, “Life in Color,” offers a glimpse into the tumultuous world of a relationship plagued by constant miscommunication and stifled emotions. It’s an anthem for those who feel like they can never truly be themselves. The music video for “Life in Color” is a visual feast of epic proportions. Directed by the British Filmmaker Oliver Clarke and Calgary based projection artist Mackenzie Bedford, it turns the Face the Earth members into living backdrops for mind-bending animations that perfectly complement the song’s powerful lyrics and infectious melody.
“As artists we always want to explore new territories of sound, and this EP is no exception.” – Mike Fitzgerald (bassist)
