Two suspected arson cases in Beaumont could been linked to the ongoing extortion scheme in the Edmonton area.
On December 14th a fire was reported in Beaumont, 30 minutes south of Edmonton, on Tuesday December 16th crews were called to the area once again for another fire at 6am.
Edmonton Police have been busy dealing with the scheme as of late, affecting showhomes across the region, according to EPS homeowners are being asked to pay a large sum of money, if they don’t their properties will be burnt down.
Neither the RCMP or EPS have been able to confirm a connection between the Beaumont fires and the Edmonton fires.
Police will be providing an update later Thursday.
