Former Premier of Alberta Rachel Notley has stepped down from her role as leader of the NDP party.
Notley says there will now be a race to replace her and she plans to stay in the position until her replacement is found. At this time she may or may not remain as the member for Edmonton-Strathcona until her term finishes in 2027.
Notley has been the face of the NDP party in Alberta for nearly a decade, in 2015 she led the NDP to her first ever majority government ending the 44 year run of PC.
Notley hasn’t ruled out running again for the party.
