A death on a First Nation in northern Alberta is being investigated as a homicide.
Fort Vermillion RCMP say a man died due to an assault on Tuesday December 4. Police were dispatched to the medical Centre in John D’or Prairie, where a man had been assaulted and dropped off. He later succumbed to his injuries.
RCMP are treating this death as a homicide and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office.
There is no evidence to suggest a risk to the public at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
