The O’Chiese Business and Investment Centre is welcoming visitors to it’s brand new state of the art Resort & Casino in downtown Red Deer.
The resort features 241 unique guestrooms, 15 modern meeting rooms, a sprawling conference centre that covers 53,000 square feet, and now a groundbreaking casino that promises to reshape local entertainment.
It also offers a wide range of gaming options such as slot machines, table games, poker room, dining rooms and bar and more. The casino is expected to become a hub for entertainment, attracting visitors from all over the region and beyond.
The expansion of the casino and upgrades to the hotel are expected to increase employment by up to 20 per cent with an increased need for dealers, servers and housekeeping professionals.
A new event centre is under construction at the resort & Casino, and when it opens in November, it will be used for concerts and other large events.
The Red Deer Resort & Casino is the former Cambridge Hotel, which was also the Capri when it opened over 50 years ago.
In a statement, the casino said it’s design looks to respect the cultural heritage of the O’Chiese First Nation.
“The sunrises over the Alberta prairies and the sunsets over the Rocky Mountains inspired the design for the casino space. An integrated waterfall symbolizes shared values of a deep connection to nature, ancestral lands and the spiritual importance of water”
“The opportunity has always been here for reconciliation and relationship; we had an opportunity here to join with O’Chiese on a vision they had, and it’s been a magnificent project,” said Red Deer Mayor Ken Johnston. “It’s a major, major boost not only to O’Chiese with their people and the jobs they’ve created, but to Red Deer itself — for tourism, economic development, and making us an entertainment and gaming draw. This is transformative.”
Congratulations to the O'Chiese First Nation on the Grand Opening of the Red Deer Resort and Casino! The new facility is a stunning addition to the City of Red Deer!
