This past weekend, the Country Music Alberta Awards (CMAA) took over the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in Calgary.
Country artists from all over Alberta and beyond came together to celebrate their craft and award the ones who really made a difference in the country music community.
Mallory Chipman of Edmonton and Frédrique “Freddi” MacDougall of Montreal, whose originally from Alberta, make up the country duo called “The Goddamsels”. They spoke with CFWE Radio about how fun of a weekend they were having at the CMAA’s.

The CMAA’s held a songwriter’s circle on Sunday morning before the awards show itself, where artists like The Goddamsels were able to share songs personal to them and explain their journey’s from playing small shows to playing at the CMAA’s.
Chipman went on about how busy they were throughout the weekend leading up to the songwriter’s circle, while also having a lot of fun with it all.

Both Chipman and MacDougall have been playing together for a number of years, even with the distance between the two. They are both honored to play with and inspired by all the other artists at the CMAA’s this year.
