Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee held their ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil new housing for vulnerable people, families and elders, the first tranche of new housing is installed, open and occupied. This housing development was made possible through grants from Cenovus and the government of Alberta.
Scott Duguid, CEO of Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee spoke with 89.3 The Raven as he says it’s a huge day for the community as it’s been five years in the making with 15 new houses ready for families in need for a better and safer home.
Duguid adds that with the 15 new houses installed in their first phase, their next phase is to have more occupancy in an additional 8 new homes in December.
Duguid goes on to speak on their priority of focusing on the Elders within the community, with also ensuring that with creating these new homes will allow more job opportunities for Conklin members.
Duguid is hopeful that people can take away that the housing development was a community grass-rooted driven initiative with help from Cenovus and strong voices from Conklin.
